A new life for stoneware
Developed by COSTA NOVA in partnership with the University of Aveiro, ecogres is a new raw material that incorporates recycled materials, such as clays and glazes from our own operations, as well as other by-products from nearby industries.
The firing process
Products made from Ecogres are fired at a lower temperature, around 2.6% lower than the standard firing process, thanks to the incorporation of highly reactive by-products. This results in lower energy consumption and, consequently, lower CO₂ emissions.
Eco- desgin
Our Ecogres products are carefully studied by the Product Design department in terms of shape, ergonomics, colors and glaze surfaces. This attention to detail helps optimize the use of resources, including clay, glaze, energy and water, and reduce waste.
A dedicated facility
In 2023, COSTA NOVA inaugurated its Ecogres facility in Ílhavo, Aveiro, Portugal. Considered an innovative facility, Ecogres features one of the world’s most advanced industrial installations in terms of energy efficiency.
